Buying one from here

Two very different cars share the name

The JZZ30 is the 1990s turbocharged coupe with the 1JZ-GTE. The UZZ40 is the later V8 convertible sold elsewhere as the Lexus SC430. Check the chassis code before you decide what you are bidding on.

The electronics date the car

Digital dashboards, air suspension and the folding roof on the convertible are the things that fail and the things that cost money. The photographs usually show whether the dash lights up; an inspection at a USS house can confirm the rest.

Condition beats specification here

These were expensive cars that became cheap cars, so plenty were neglected. A tidy, standard example is worth paying for; a cheap one with a tired interior rarely becomes a good car for less than it costs to buy a good one.

What it costs to land one in the US

Ocean freight, customs duty, clearance and our sourcing fee sit on top of the Japanese price. The duty rate is 12.5% of the car's value — the figure JDM Imports works to, and the one the calculator uses; see tariffRate in js/services/calculator.js, which is the authority. Every line of that cost is set out here, and the 25-Year Rule is explained here. The landed cost calculator works the whole figure for any car on this page before you commit to it, and cars 2002 and older clear the 25-Year Rule.
